Birregurra Show n Shine 17/2/24

THE SHOW HAS BEEN RUN AND WON!

After many months of work by the BMEC Committee our primary concern regarding the weather never eventuated.  Those that attended I am sure would agree that the weather was great resulting in our first show being an overwhelming success.  We never imagined the response and turn out we got.

On behalf of the BMEC President, the Committee and all the BMEC membership:

To all that attended and bought their motors from the small stationary engines through to the big trucks- Thankyou!

To all our sponsors without whom this event would never have eventuated:

Birregurra Community Group, Birregurra General Store, Winchelsea and District Community Bendigo Bank, Colac Auto Care, Riordan Transport, Associated Cold Tread Tyres Colac, Andrew Hinds Plumbing, Winchelsea Landscape and Garden, Arundel Water Cartage, Barwon Water, Brandt Colac, Great Ocean Road Classics, Colac Mobile Cranes, Birregurra Mechanics Hall, Lidgerwood Seeds, J Lidgerwood and the Quinney Family- Thankyou!

To Wazza for the garbage bins and more, Royal Mail Hotel for allowing us to use their power, Shane King from ‘Outback Trading Birregurra’ who closed his business for the day just to allow smooth traffic flow and assist the smooth running of the event, Brad Brennan & Damian Boylan from Blue Circle for watercart, South West Traffic, Greg Daniels for watering the roads, Scott Peschell and his First Aid/Fire crew the bands and the ‘mixer’- Thankyou!

The ‘behind the scenes members.  The Ladies that ran the ‘Entry Desk’, the BMEC members and non-members that jumped in and helped on the gates, Neil and all his crew that ran the hugely successful BBQ and Sylvia the ‘BMEC Official Photographer’ - Thankyou!

Pat and Graeme and all the marshals.  How they managed and worked so well to get all those trucks and cars in and out without incident as they did has astounded us and highly commendable- Thankyou!

Those people that came to our event just for a look - Thankyou!

The stall holders - Thankyou!

Diamond Valley Trophy Centre for the fantastic trophies - Thankyou!

Those of you that are followers of our page and left us fantastic feedback – Thankyou!

The members of the BMEC. That pitched in and made the day what it was - Thankyou!

The residents and businesses of Birregurra, who without objection, allowed us to run this event even though it may have caused some inconvenience on the day - Thankyou!

Finally, all the Committee members that worked tirelessly to bring the event from dream to reality – Thankyou!

If we have forgotten anyone, we sincerely apologise but thankyou too.

PS Dont forget to check out our Facebook page and the Birregurra Community Notice Board for photographs of the event

SPONSORS

15 businesses or organisations and 1 individual sponsored our inaugural event..  We believe this is a great result and heartfelt thank you to each and everyone of them for their encouragement and support.

The Committee urges all members to support these sponsors at every opportunity.

They include:

The Birregurra Show n Shine 2024 sponsors:

  Associated_Cold_Tread                              Hinds                             Colac Garden

Arundel Water Cartage – Barwon Water – Brandt Colac – Great Ocean Road Classics - Colac Mobile Cranes

Birregurra Mechanics Hall - Lidgerwood Seeds - J Lidgerwood

The Bus

Thanks to the Lorne Historical Socitey we have located another photo of our bus.  It appears the picture was taken in the 1930s of the bus and passengers en route to Lorne from Birregurra.  We are not sure but the picture appears to be around Benwerrin where there was a stop over during the trip.

If you know anymore or anyone in the photo please let us know.  The caption that came with the photograph is "Lorne -Passerngers and early bus (Birtles) on Lorne/Deans Marsh Road'.  Apparently 'Birtles' was the bus company.

BMEC Stubby Holders

The Club now has Stubby Holders for sale as our latest fundraiser.  We believe they look great and will be available at the Monthly Meetings and to the public at the Show n Shine.

These are a quality Stubby Holder fully stitched and taped at join.  Only $10 each.  Supercheap have their Stubby Holders on sale at $15 each and Repco $11 during Bathurst so ours are a real bargain!!  Get one, in fact get 2 or 3.  Remember, all funds go to the Club and the Show n Shine.
